The world map acts as a representation of our planet earth, but from a flattened perspective. As you know the map is an essential thing as it helps to see the countries, the river, mountain, ocean, countries name, neighbors of our, etc. Representing a round earth on a flat map requires some distortion of the geographic features no matter how the map is done.

This map is for illustrative purposes and does not imply the expression of any opinion on the part of the world bank, concerning the legal status of any. It is basically a political world map although it does not use the traditional political map colors. Those colors are so 1995 anyway.
